Looking
for Paoli: A Documentary by Corsicans – Sorba and Aiqui
November
8, 2007 at 7:00pm at Delaware Valley Friends School
We all seem to know that our town, Paoli, was named
after a famous Corsican freedom fighter – Pasquale Paoli.
Now we have a rare event happening next week – we are
a part of a documentary made by Corsican playwrights who will
premiere the film right here in Paoli at the Delaware Valley
Friends School.
- Time 7:00 pm on Thursday, November 8
- Address: 19 E. Central Avenue, Paoli
In the film are Ed Auble and Barbara Mangos
representing our town of Paoli. See how they and we fit into
a greater world picture of time and place through the eyes
of these international film makers. Click

of film.
The
Bell
PBPA received a donation
of an historic railroad train bell, that once sounded a signal
on an engine from the Erie-Pittsburgh line. The Bell was contributed
by Brian Walker in memory of his Mother Patricia Walker. Ira
Dutter of the Paoli Fire Company aided in moving the bell
from the Walker home to its new permanent site at the War
Memorial.
The Erie-Pittsburgh
Rail Line was a branch of the Pennsylvania Railroad that was
the largest coal hauler as well as the largest consumer of
coal until diesel locomotives emerged in the 1940’s
and 1950’s.

Betty
Colmery Honored by Great Valley School Board
Betty Colmery, retired general manager
of the Paoli Technology Enterprise Center, a business incubator,
was recently honored by the Great Valley School Board for
her lifetime of community service.
She has lived in the School District for
nearly 50 years and has worked as a part time employee of
the district. During that time she has been a girl scout leader,
officer of the Down East Civic Association, Red Cross volunteer,
Director of the United Fund, on the strategic planning committee
for Paoli Library and GVSD, is past Worthy Matron of the Masonic
order of the Eastern Star and instrumental in forming the
Upper Main Line Senior Center, as well as Secretary of the
PBPA for six years. The Paoli Business Association recognized
Betty’s unmatched service to this community in 2006
with the Summit Service Award – given to those who go
above and beyond the call of duty.
“I can tell you Betty approaches
each and every one of her responsibilities with unfailing
commitment to excellence and an enthusiasm unmatched by colleagues
half her age. She is a tireless worker, and the first person
to say ‘yes’ when asked to help with any assignment,”
declared Sandy Claus when presenting the award.
PBPA remembers Brian Walker
PBPA
remembers Brian Walker, a Paoli resident who passed
away March 10. Last year, Mr. Walker
donated the Erie-Pittsburgh Railroad bell to PBPA in memory
of his mother, Patricia Walker, a long-time resident of Paoli.
The bell was installed earlier this year at the VFW Memorial
site, appropriately near the Paoli train station.
